Hardwood floor sanding & refinishing in Vancouver

The wood you love.
A new chapter.

Sometimes the most beautiful new floor is the one already beneath your feet. Sanding and refinishing can bring a different tone and a renewed finish to suitable existing hardwood, while keeping the character of your home.

Assess the existing floor.

We begin with its construction, condition and previous sanding. Not every wood floor can be refinished, and remaining wear layer thickness matters.

The site assessment helps establish whether refinishing, repair or replacement is the more suitable approach.

WESTPORT · BEFORE & AFTER

Same wood.
A different warmth.

The existing Brazilian cherry was retained, sanded and refinished in a darker tone. Samples on the actual floor helped establish the colour direction.

YOUR HOME, YOUR FINISH

Choose the tone.
Plan the return.

Colour and finish.

We discuss stain samples and finish options alongside the light and finishes in your home. The result depends on the wood species and condition of the existing floor.

Access and care.

We discuss furniture, access and the areas involved before work begins. Drying, cure times and return to use depend on the selected finish and site conditions.

Common questions.

Can engineered hardwood be refinished?

Some engineered hardwood can be refinished. The remaining wood layer, previous sanding and the floor's condition determine whether it is suitable. We assess those details before recommending sanding, repair or replacement.

Can red-toned hardwood become a darker colour?

Our Westport project shows an existing red-toned floor sanded and stained to a deeper finish in the same home. The result on your floor will depend on its species, condition and selected stain.

Can you refinish stairs as well as floors?

Stairs and landings can be considered in the same scope. Treads, risers, railings and other components should be discussed separately so the work is clear.

How long before we can move furniture back?

That depends on the finishing system and site conditions. We will discuss the product-specific return-to-use and care guidance as part of planning your project.
